The course is from a Biblically-based perspective, looking at history and culture with an eye to God’s truths, grace, and love for humanity.
This is a developing course with a different approach – thus a low price for this first year.
The course is from a Biblically-based perspective, looking at history and culture with an eye to God’s truths, grace, and love for humanity. It is also based on the belief that the U.S. is a uniquely founded and great nation, but also has made mistakes and done things that were wrong. All discussions and information will be appropriate for high school students – but the culture and history will be discussed honestly.
Student work is an integral part of the course – students will research the events listed in the Billy Joel song, “We Didn’t Start the Fire”, and prepare slides each week showing what they have discovered. Research essentials are the focus – discerning bias in news sources, developing balanced research techniques, looking for primary documents, evaluating how different sources report the same event. This is a necessary skill in today’s world!
